After flying high against Izard County last Friday, Cross County came back down to earth. The Thunderbirds took a 20-16 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Poinsett County Warriors on Friday. The Thunderbirds' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Jaocb Gaines continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for East Poinsett County, rushing for 127 yards and one TD on only 15 carries. With that strong performance, Gaines is now averaging an impressive 104.2 rushing yards per game.

Cross County's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-2. As for East Poinsett County, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
