Basketball Recap: Socorro Drops Season-High Score on Bosque

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Socorro). Everything went their way against the Bosque Bobcats on Saturday as the Socorro Warriors made off with a 56-33 victory. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Jazmine Alvarado had a dynamite game for Socorro, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine steals. Alvarado is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 16 or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Gutierrez, who posted eight points along with nine rebounds and eight steals.

Socorro smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bosque only pulled down seven offensive boards.

Despite the defeat, Bosque saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kiyaa'Aanii Otero dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. What's more, Otero also posted a 60% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Cheyenne Anderson was another key player, putting up eight points and nine rebounds.

Socorro's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-17. As for Bosque, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-15.

Socorro didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 33-27 win against Hatch Valley on the 4th. As for Bosque, they have also already played their next game, a 56-33 defeat against Sandia Prep on the 4th.
