 Birch Run lost a heartbreaker to Hill-McCloy when they met  back in May of 2021, and they left with a heavy heart again  on Wednesday. The Birch Run Panthers fell just short of the Hill-McCloy Rams by a score of  3-2. Birch Run has struggled against Hill-McCloy recently, as their  game on Wednesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
 For Hill-McCloy's part,  Lainey Cannon was a major factor no matter where she played. She  didn't allow a single  earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Cannon has been consistent recently: she hasn't  tossed less than seven  strikeouts in eight consecutive pitching appearances. Cannon was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while going 3-for-4.
