Basketball Recap: Burney Comes Up Short

Burney lost against Modoc back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Raiders were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 51-50 to the Braves.

Burney lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Avery Mitchell, who shot 55% from the field on his way to 14 points. Mitchell is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was James Fields, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards.

Modoc's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ashton Lauppe, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds. Colin Jeffers was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Burney now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Modoc, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Burney will challenge Etna at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Modoc, they will venture away from home to challenge Lakeview at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
