Baseball Recap: D'Hanis Takes a Loss

If D'Hanis was feeling good fresh off their 9-1 takedown of Sabinal last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cowboys came up short against the Charlotte Trojans on Tuesday, falling 14-5. The Cowboys were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trojans earlier this season, when they won 20-3.

Kase Braden put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Braden was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Josiah Rodriguez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Aaron Chapman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

The defeat snapped D'Hanis' winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-7 record. As for Charlotte, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. D'Hanis will take on Brackett at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Charlotte, they will face off against Falls City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Beavers have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
