Basketball Recap: The Pinnacle Takes a Loss

It was a good run, but The Pinnacle unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Monday. They had to suffer through a 74-33 loss at the hands of the Fort Lupton Bluedevils. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Timberwolves have suffered since February 8, 2024.

Several Timberwolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Angel Lazo, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 10 points. Caleb Arellano was another key player, putting up nine points.

It was another big night for Javon Gonzales, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine steals for Fort Lupton. Gonzales' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Garcia, who went 6 for 14 en route to 18 points and five boards.

The Pinnacle's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-3. As for Fort Lupton, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

The Pinnacle and Fort Lupton should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. The Pinnacle will face off against Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday up 200 places (139 vs. 339). The Pinnacle is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.6 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Fort Lupton (ranked 62nd) will meet Alameda (ranked 337th) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
