Softball Recap: Pender Comes Up Short

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Pender nor Wallace-Rose Hill made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Patriots fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 4-3. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 17-7.

Pender saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie Iddings, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Kimora Mcallister was another, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

Pender moved to 13-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Wallace-Rose Hill, they pushed their record up to 7-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Coming up, Pender will venture away from home to square off against Heide Trask at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season. As for Wallace-Rose Hill, they will be playing at home against South Lenoir at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Blue Devils have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
