Recap: Palo Verde vs. Centennial
On Friday, Centennial faced Palo Verde in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Centennial steamrolled past Palo Verde 44-7. That's another feather in the cap for the Bulldogs, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
The Bulldogs' offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 37 points in the first half. Meanwhile, Palo Verde couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 37 to nothing heading into the break. The Centennial defense was impenetrable in the third quarter, shutting them out and essentially clinching the contest.
The victory was the sixth in a row for Centennial and raised their record to 11-1. The defeat dropped Palo Verde's record to 8-4.
Centennial will take on Desert Pines in each of the teams' third playoff game next week. Desert Pines has averaged 43.25 points over the course of their past four games, so the Bulldogs might be in for a challenge. Palo Verde's playoff loss brings an end to their season.
