Football Game Preview: University Cougars vs. East River Falcons + Official Tickets

University is 1-6 against East River since August of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Cougars will square off against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. University has given up an average of 43.7 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

University will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any points last Friday, then bounced right back against Colonial on Friday. The Cougars secured a 41-36 W over the Grenadiers. The Cougars' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Cesar Ramirez was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 332 yards and four TDs while completing 72.2% of his passes, and also punched in one rushing score. Those 332 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Trinel Taylor also helped out with an impressive 87 receiving yards.

University didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Colonial to a completion percentage of just 40%. The Cougars weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 70%.

University didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Trent Cathcart.

East River fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They put the hurt on Lake Buena Vista with a sharp 35-14 victory on Friday.

East River found their leader in sophomore Jermaine Washington, who rushed for 123 yards and three scores on only eight carries. Washington is becoming a predictor of the Falcons' success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 0-6 when he doesn't).

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-6. As for University, their record is now 2-7.

University was dealt a bruising 51-0 loss at the hands of East River in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
