Baseball Game Preview: River Dell Golden Hawks vs. Fort Lee Bridgemen

River Dell has gone 9-1 against Fort Lee recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Golden Hawks will venture away from home to square off against the Bridgemen at 4:15 p.m. River Dell has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

River Dell came up short against Westwood on Wednesday, falling 11-5. The loss continues a trend for the Golden Hawks in their meetings with the Cardinals: they've now lost nine in a row.

David Nunez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of River Dell's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't). Chris Kelm was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Fort Lee unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 7-2 to Hackensack.

Fort Lee also got a good showing from Paul Bonilla, who kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Bonilla has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 9-4. As for River Dell, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Both River Dell and Fort Lee just can't seem to miss. The Golden Hawks have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Fort Lee struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

River Dell couldn't quite get it done against Fort Lee when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can the Golden Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
