The Vicksburg Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Adrian Maples at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Vicksburg is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Vicksburg's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They came out on top against St. Joseph by a score of 4-0.
Not much got past Drake Henderson, who gave up just three hits to keep St. Joseph off the board.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brandon Shoffner, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Grant Vanwoert was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Adrian not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 28th (when they won 12-0). They put the hurt on Columbia Central with a sharp 9-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Maples, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Adrian let Tyler Bruggeman and Joelden Griffin run wild. Bruggeman got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs, while Griffin went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Adrian is 10-1 when Bruggeman posts two or more runs, but 5-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon DeKeyser, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Adrian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbia Central only posted an OBP of .321.
Vicksburg's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Adrian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-11.
