Wellsboro has gone a perfect 10-0 against Cowanesque Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Hornets will venture away from home to challenge the Indians at 4:30 p.m. Wellsboro will be strutting in after a win while Cowanesque Valley will be coming in after a loss.
Wellsboro barely beat Sayre the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Redskins on Wednesday. That looming 17-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Hornets yet this season.

Marek Mascho made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Wellsboro is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-4 otherwise. Mascho was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Alec Magli was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Wellsboro is 2-1 when Magli posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Cameron Owlett also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Wellsboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Cowanesque Valley was a bit more limited in their matchup on Wednesday. They fell just short of Wyalusing Valley by a score of 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Indians in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost four in a row.
Cowanesque Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Loagan Stickler, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Stickler has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.
Wellsboro is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Cowanesque Valley fell to 4-1-1.
Wellsboro took their win against Cowanesque Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
