Basketball Game Preview: Burns Broncs vs. Cody Broncs

Burns will take on Cody in a holiday battle at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Burns is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season.

Burns will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 26 points on Saturday, then bounced right back against Southeast on Saturday. The Broncs claimed a resounding 72-43 victory over the Cyclones. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-16.

Duggan Kriz produced another solid effort shooting 53% from the field on his way to 23 points and six rebounds. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Another player making a difference was Player #4, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 10 points.

Burns was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Cody was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 45-39 to Laramie. The Broncs have struggled against the Plainsmen recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Burns' record now sits at 4-1. As for Cody, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Burns was dealt a bruising 69-18 defeat at the hands of Cody when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Burns avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
