Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Springfield). They blew past the Bloomington Purple Raiders 84-40 on Tuesday. Given the Senators' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while the Purple Raiders are ranked 547th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Springfield's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Bloomington, their loss was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springfield will take on Rantoul in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rantoul has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 195 points over their last three contests. As for Bloomington, they will be home for the holidays to greet Champaign Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
