Recap: Springville Red Devils vs. Timpview Thunderbirds

The Springville Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Timpview by a score of 45-43. While losing is never fun, Springville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Timpview is ranked eighth).

Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Millie Thompson, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Brynn Johnson, who scored ten points.

Lina Ballin was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with five rebounds and three steals for Timpview. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ballin has scored at least a third of Timpview's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiaiaga Galea'i, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.

Springville bumped their record down to 3-11 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Timpview, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Maple Mountain the next time they take the court. Springville will head out to face Maple Mountain at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while Timpview will host them at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
