Baseball Game Preview: Stigler Panthers vs. Poteau Pirates

The Stigler Panthers will challenge the Poteau Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Stigler has four straight wins, Poteau has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Stigler barely beat Poteau the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Stigler put the hurt on Poteau with a sharp 17-4 victory on Monday. Fans of the Panthers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

The team relied heavily on Latch Smith, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Landon Hodges, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Poteau now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Stigler, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
