Basketball Recap: Whiteland Comes Up Short

Whiteland lost against Greenwood last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Whiteland Warriors were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to the Greenwood Woodmen. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Whiteland still got an impressive performance from Ethan Edwards, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 22 points. Edwards' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Kyle Edwards was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Greenwood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Acen Swain, who went 7 for 12 en route to 19 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Swain a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Doolin, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points and eight boards.

Whiteland's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Greenwood, they pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Whiteland will host Franklin Community at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Whiteland is facing Franklin Community at the right time seeing as Franklin Community is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Greenwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Decatur Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Decatur Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.5 points per game this season.
