Baseball Recap: Oakleaf Takes a Loss

Oakleaf lost against McMinn County back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Oakleaf Knights fell just short of the McMinn County Cherokees by a score of 4-2.

Oakleaf got a good showing from Jackson Clark, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Clark has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jeter Farina made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. JP Espinosa was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Oakleaf now has a losing record of 7-8. As for McMinn County, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.

Coming up, Oakleaf will challenge Knoxville Catholic at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday. As for McMinn County, they are taking a road trip to square off against Chiles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
