Softball Recap: Hopewell-Loudon Starts off Right with Win over Liberty-Benton

Hopewell-Loudon had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Liberty-Benton Eagles. The Chieftains have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Araceli Velasquez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Velasquez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Brynn Sendelbach was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Morgan Hoover was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Coming up, Hopewell-Loudon will face off against Carey at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Liberty-Benton, they will take on Ottawa-Glandorf at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
