Volleyball Game Preview: Lapeer Lightning vs. Royal Oak Ravens

The Lapeer Lightning will challenge the Royal Oak Ravens at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lapeer will be strutting in after a victory while Royal Oak will be coming in after a defeat.

On Wednesday, Lapeer got the win against Powers Catholic by a conclusive 3-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lightning.

Lapeer never let Powers Catholic on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-21, 25-23.

Lapeer's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Allison Rutledge, who had 16 assists and 11 digs. Rutledge is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 16 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Nina Jostock, who had 16 digs and four assists.

Meanwhile, Royal Oak was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Farmington, falling 3-0.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-21, 25-19.

Royal Oak's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Lapeer, their victory bumped their record up to 4-11-1.
