Baseball Preview: Wyomissing Spartans vs. Kutztown Cougars
Wyomissing is 2-8 against Kutztown since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the Cougars at 6:15 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Wyomissing was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Pottsville 7-6. While the Spartans didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Teddy White made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. White was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Daniel Noey was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Cole Sensenig also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Kutztown made sure to put some runs up on the board against Antietam on Friday. The Cougars' pitchers stepped up to hand the Mountaineers a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won three contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Kutztown pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Wyomissing, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
