Baseball Game Preview: Chatsworth Chancellors vs. El Camino Real Royals

Chatsworth hasn't had much luck against El Camino Real recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Chancellors will look to defend their home field against the Royals at 3:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Chatsworth 3.8, El Camino Real 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Chatsworth is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Birmingham. That's two games in a row now that the Chancellors have lost by just one run.

Meanwhile, El Camino Real never let their opponents score on Friday. They came out on top against Taft by a score of 5-0. The Royals haven't had any issues with the Toreadors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Devin Gonor tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over 6.2 innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, El Camino Real let Julius Haim and Troy Shaw run wild. Haim went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Shaw went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those three hits gave Shaw a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adan Viner, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Chatsworth now has a losing record of 10-11-1. As for El Camino Real, their victory bumped their record up to 16-8.

Chatsworth might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from El Camino Real when the teams last played back in March. Can the Chancellors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
