Preview: Mancos Bluejays vs. Sanford Mustangs
Mancos is on a four-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Sanford is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Mancos Bluejays will take on the Sanford Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Mancos got themselves on the board against Dolores, but Dolores never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 70-0 win over the Bears at home. The result was nothing new for Mancos, who have now won five matchups by 30 points or more so far this season.
Kail Wayman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 55 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 69 yards and two touchdowns on only five passes. Another player making a difference was Levi Martin, who rushed for 57 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Sanford got themselves on the board against Sargent on Friday, but Sargent never followed suit. They won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Farmers 1-0.
Mancos has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first seven matchups, giving them a 6-1 record. As for Sanford, their victory on Friday bumped their record up to 5-2.
Mancos came out on top in a nail-biter against Sanford in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, sneaking past 22-20. Does Mancos have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sanford turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
