Basketball Game Preview: Hickory Flat Rebels vs. Smithville Seminoles

The Hickory Flat Rebels will head out to take on the Smithville Seminoles at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hickory Flat comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 80-47, which was the final score in Hickory Flat's tilt against Ashland on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Smithville hadn't done well against Hatley recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Seminoles simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Tigers 59-31. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Seminoles.

Hickory Flat's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Smithville, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Hickory Flat didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Smithville in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 66-62 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
