Volleyball Recap: Mt. Vernon Takes a Loss

If Mt. Vernon was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Pike Central on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats lost 3-0 to the Tell City Marksmen on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-21, 25-16.

Josie Harshbarger paced Mt. Vernon's offense, picking up eight kills. Harshbarger got some help from Maiya Jones and her 16 assists. Sarah Seifert controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Mt. Vernon has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Tell City, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Mt. Vernon is set to challenge their familiar foe North Posey at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Tell City will face off against rival Heritage Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
