Soccer Game Preview: South Effingham vs. Effingham County

The South Effingham Mustangs will square off against the Effingham County Rebels at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

South Effingham fell victim to Long County and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Blue Tide by a score of 1-0.

Meanwhile, Effingham County also failed to score in their most recent game. They came up short against Greenbrier on Friday, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, Effingham County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Greenbrier are ranked 14th).

South Effingham's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Effingham County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

South Effingham came out on top in a nail-biter against Effingham County when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
