Soccer Game Preview: Rock Bridge vs. Smith-Cotton

The Rock Bridge Bruins will square off against the Smith-Cotton Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Rock Bridge will be strutting in after a win while Smith-Cotton will be coming in after a loss.

On Saturday, Rock Bridge narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Glendale 2-1. Given Rock Bridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri soccer rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Glendale are ranked 88th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Smith-Cotton fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Pleasant Hill on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Roosters/Chicks by a score of 2-1.

Rock Bridge is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up four goals over those nine games. As for Smith-Cotton, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.

Rock Bridge was able to grind out a solid victory over Smith-Cotton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 3-1. Will the Bruins repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
