Softball Recap: Montrose Has No Trouble Against Carbondale Area

Montrose barely beat Carbondale Area the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Meteors blew past the Chargers 11-1 on Tuesday. Considering the Meteors have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Violet Conning, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Cara Evans was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Montrose has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Carbondale Area, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Montrose will head out to face off against Forest City at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Carbondale Area, they will venture away from home to challenge Mountain View at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14 runs per game on average), something the Chargers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
