Basketball Recap: Aiden Meyer's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Castle over Evansville Memorial

If Castle was feeling good fresh off their 73-49 takedown of Hopkinsville last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Castle Knights took a 63-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Evansville Memorial Tigers on Tuesday. The Knights were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aiden Meyer, who went 6 of 10 en route to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Xander Niehaus, who posted seven points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Castle was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Evansville Memorial to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dylen Kendrick, who had nine points in addition to six assists and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maxx Anslinger, who went 6 for 8 on his way to 14 points.

Castle's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Evansville Memorial, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

When Castle and Evansville Memorial next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Castle will try to stop Bloomington South's three-game winning streak when the meet at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Evansville Memorial will take on Evansville Harrison and their three-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
