Baseball Game Preview: Lawrenceburg Tigers vs. Batesville Bulldogs

Lawrenceburg is 0-10 against Batesville since May of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Bulldogs at 1:45 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lawrenceburg 3.5, Batesville 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Lawrenceburg turned things around against Switzerland County on Wednesday. They blew past the Pacers 9-2. The Tigers not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 19th (when they won 10-2).

Lawrenceburg got a great performance from Karson Mollaun as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, J.P. Izzo and Ryan Richard did most of the damage at the plate: Izzo went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Richard got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Izzo has posted since back in May of 2024. Dustin Shaw was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Lawrenceburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Switzerland County only managed five hits.

Meanwhile, Batesville had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Olympians.

Batesville's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lawrenceburg, their record now sits at 10-6.

Lawrenceburg might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Batesville in their previous meeting on Monday. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
