Basketball Game Preview: Hilltop Lancers vs. High Tech CV Bruins

Having just played yesterday, the Hilltop Lancers will head out on the road to face off against the High Tech CV Bruins at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hilltop has three straight victories, High Tech CV has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Tuesday, Hilltop took their game with ease, bagging a 60-26 win over Chula Vista Learning Community Charter. The Lancers pushed the score to 53-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cobras cut but never quite recovered from.

Hilltop's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Adrian Alvarez, who posted eight points in addition to seven assists and six boards, and James Devin, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 18 points. Those 18 points gave Devin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Roman Miramontes, who put up eight points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, High Tech CV suffered their biggest loss since December 28, 2023 on Saturday. They came up short against Fallbrook, falling 75-54. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 523rd, while the Warriors are ranked 225th).

High Tech CV's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Hilltop, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Things could have been worse for Hilltop, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 71-52 loss to High Tech CV in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Hilltop avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
