Volleyball Game Preview: Woburn Memorial Tanners vs. Wakefield Memorial Warriors

Woburn Memorial has gone a perfect 4-0 against Wakefield Memorial recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Tanners will welcome the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. The last four games Woburn Memorial has played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Monday, it was close, but Woburn Memorial sidestepped North Andover for a 3-2 win.

Woburn Memorial wouldn't go down easily and took North Andover into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-23, 18-25, 21-25, 15-8.

Woburn Memorial's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Hayden Deriphonse, who had 41 assists, and Mateo Qirjazi, who had four aces. Those four aces gave Qirjazi a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Wakefield Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to Essex Tech.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-5, 25-15.

Woburn Memorial's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Wakefield Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Everything went Woburn Memorial's way against Wakefield Memorial when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Woburn Memorial made off with a 3-0 win. Will the Tanners repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
