Softball Game Preview: Crescent Tigers vs. High Point Academy Grizzlies

The Crescent Tigers will face off against the High Point Academy Grizzlies at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

West-Oak hit Crescent with a six-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, High Point Academy waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Red Devils.

Julie Raines spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alyx Creel, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Emily Hart was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: High Point Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

High Point Academy's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Crescent, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.

Crescent took their victory against High Point Academy in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Grizzlies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
