DeSmet and Harding County squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but DeSmet had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 65-32 loss at the hands of the Harding County Ranchers. The Bulldogs' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Leading Harding County to victory were Bailey Rae Verhulst and Brayden Padden. Rae Verhulst shot 62% from the field to rack up 22 points along with six steals and five rebounds, while Padden dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 boards. With that strong performance, Padden is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Macey Wendt, who posted six points in addition to eight boards and three steals.
DeSmet's loss dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Harding County, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 21-0.
DeSmet does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Harding County, they will take on St. Mary at 6:00 p.m. on March 13th.
