Trinity Lutheran has gone a perfect 10-0 against Crothersville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. Crothersville took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Trinity Lutheran, who comes in off a win.
While Trinity Lutheran's victory against New Albany wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 3-2 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since September 6th.
Trinity Lutheran wouldn't go down easily and took New Albany into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-16, 25-20, 18-25, 15-9.
Trinity Lutheran can attribute much of their success to Madelyn Adams, who had ten digs and four aces, and Emerson Warren, who had eight kills and four digs. That's the most digs Warren has posted since back in September. Bailey Bonde also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
They weren't the only good servers: Trinity Lutheran was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. They are a perfect 7-0 when they serve at least ten aces.
Meanwhile, Crothersville lost 3-0 to Lanesville on Thursday.
Crothersville took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-16, 25-21.
Trinity Lutheran's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-11. As for Crothersville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's matchup: Trinity Lutheran has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.6 aces per game. However, it's not like Crothersville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Trinity Lutheran took their win against Crothersville when the teams last played back in September of 2023 by a conclusive 3-0 score.
