Basketball Game Preview: Fleming Island Golden Eagles vs. Episcopal School of Jacksonville Eagles

It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Fleming Island Golden Eagles challenge the Episcopal School of Jacksonville Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday... Fleming Island will be strutting in after a victory while Episcopal School of Jacksonville will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, Fleming Island was able to grind out a solid win over Oakleaf, taking the game 37-27. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Golden Eagles.

Amira Martin and Seven Gourdet were among the main playmakers for Fleming Island as the former posted eight points in addition to six boards and three steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. That's the most steals Martin has posted since back in January of 2024.

Meanwhile, Episcopal School of Jacksonville played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Bishop Kenny, falling 38-16. The match marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Fleming Island's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Episcopal School of Jacksonville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Fleming Island took their win against Episcopal School of Jacksonville in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 52-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fleming Island since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
