Basketball Recap: Walter Johnson Takes a Loss

Walter Johnson played a tough match on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 78-52 to the Whitman Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 259th, while the Vikings are ranked 48th).

Whitman got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Evan Brown out in front who went 6 for 11 en route to 15 points. Brown's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sean Curran, who posted ten points and six boards.

Walter Johnson dropped their record down to 1-9 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Whitman, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Walter Johnson Wildcats challenge the Paint Branch Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Whitman, they will head out on the road to square off against Gaithersburg at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
