Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Covenant Day). They put the hurt on the Charlotte Christian Knights with a sharp 76-55 win on Tuesday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Knights are ranked 303rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Tyree White, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 14 points in addition to six assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Rivens, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Despite the loss, Charlotte Christian had strong showings from Cooper Solomon, who posted 11 points and four steals, and Marshall Nicholson, who went 5 for 9 en route to 15 points and six rebounds. Solomon has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Matty Carroll, who had 14 points.

Covenant Day now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Charlotte Christian, they dropped their record down to 7-16 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Covenant Day will challenge Charlotte Latin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Covenant Day is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.4 points per game this season. As for Charlotte Christian, they will face off against Charlotte Country Day School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
