Softball Recap: Enfield Makes It Eight in a Row on the Road

Enfield got themselves on the board against Granby Memorial on Monday, but Granby Memorial never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Bears. Considering the Eagles have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Payten Stebbins's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emily Lyver, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Anderson, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Enfield's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Granby Memorial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Enfield will welcome Manchester at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles are facing the Red Hawks at the right time seeing as the Red Hawks are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Granby Memorial, they will challenge Thomaston at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
