Basketball Recap: Polk County Gets the Win

Polk County posted their closest victory since December 29, 2023 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Hiwassee Dam Eagles 64-61. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 261st in Tennessee, while the Eagles are ranked 570th in North Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Polk County now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Hiwassee Dam, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

Polk County will take on Roane County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Roane County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. Hiwassee Dam has already played their next game (against Copper Basin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
