Baseball Recap: Pope John XXIII Takes a Loss

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Pope John XXIII's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Joseph Regional Green Knights on Tuesday. The match marked the first time this season in which Pope John XXIII was not able to get on the board.

Pope John XXIII saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Pami, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Pope John XXIII's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for St. Joseph Regional, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-6.

Pope John XXIII and St. Joseph Regional should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. Pope John XXIII (ranked 106th) will meet Hudson Catholic (ranked 345th) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, St. Joseph Regional will take on Paramus Catholic at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (21 vs. 95). The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Green Knights 3.7, the Paladins 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
