Baseball Recap: Farragut Snags Ninth Victory in Last Ten Games

While Farragut's win against Clemente wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Admirals sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over the Wildcats on Monday. That's two games straight that the Admirals have won by just one run.

Ben DeMateo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Farragut's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 10-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Robert DeMateo, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Gio Bahena-Perez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Farragut was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in nine consecutive matchups.

Farragut has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Clemente, with the loss, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-8.

Farragut will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
