Basketball Recap: Shelby Skates Past Highland with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shelby). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Highland Fighting Scots 77-37. Given the Whippets' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Fighting Scots are ranked 538th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Highland lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Bryleigh Young, who posted nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Mullins, who had nine points and five rebounds.

The win was the third in a row for Shelby, bringing their record for this year to 5-1. As for Highland, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Shelby will head out to face off against Upper Sandusky at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Upper Sandusky will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Shelby surely won't give up without a fight. As for Highland, they will head out on the road to challenge Galion at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
