Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Mason Marriott and Josiah Irwin Lead Kit Carson to Victory

Kit Carson saw some tournament action on Thursday. They blew past the Weldon Valley Warriors 56-32. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Leading Kit Carson to victory were Josiah Irwin and Mason Marriott. Irwin dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, while Marriott went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points. Irwin is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Mayhan, who posted five points.

Kit Carson was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Weldon Valley only posted eight assists.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was August Filter, who had 12 points. Zander Braun was another key player, putting up 14 points and five rebounds.

Kit Carson's record now sits at 2-0. As for Weldon Valley, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Kit Carson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 47-40 loss against Miami-Yoder on the 13th. As for Weldon Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-35 defeat against Flagler on the 13th.
