Softball Game Preview: Rogers Rams vs. Lima Senior Spartans

The Rogers Rams will square off against the Lima Senior Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rogers is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.9 runs per game this season.

While Rogers' win against Ottawa Hills wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rams sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over the Green Bears on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Green Bears: they've now won six in a row.

Rylie Mundt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Mundt was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Zyla Hill was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three doubles, and three RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Da'Mya Boles, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.

Meanwhile, Lima Senior made easy work of Rogers on Friday and carried off a 14-4 victory. Considering the Spartans have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Lima Senior's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Rogers, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.
