Softball Game Preview: Kennedy Cougars vs. Royal Highlanders

The Kennedy Cougars will be taking part in a tournament against the Royal Highlanders at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Royal took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Kennedy, who comes in off a win.

Kennedy was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past Louisville 2-1.

Anais Perez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.

At the plate, Sarah Olague was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Alina Ortiz was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple.

Meanwhile, Royal came up short against Thousand Oaks on Wednesday, falling 14-4. The Highlanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Royal saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marilyn Augusta, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Skylar Gapol also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Royal's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Kennedy, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
