Softball Recap: Southwick Regional Victorious

While Southwick Regional's win against Gateway Regional wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rams skirted past the Gators 3-2. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Brooke Comee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bri Gilday, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Khloe Lafogg, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Southwick Regional's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Gateway Regional, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Coming up, Southwick Regional will face off against Smith Vo-Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gateway Regional, they will welcome Westfield Technical Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.
