Soccer Recap: Gilbert Takes a Loss

After flying high against Pelion on Wednesday, Gilbert came back down to earth. The Indians fell just short of the Brookland-Cayce Bearcats by a score of 2-1 on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Brookland-Cayce this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 last Tuesday.

Gilbert's goal came courtesy of Dominick Tebalan, which was the first he's scored this season.

Gilbert's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8-2. As for Brookland-Cayce, they pushed their record up to 8-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Gilbert will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Gray Collegiate Academy at 7:30 p.m. on the 22nd. Gray Collegiate Academy will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Gilbert surely won't give up without a fight. As for Brookland-Cayce, they didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Saluda on the 14th.
