Basketball Game Preview: Minisink Valley Warriors vs. Onteora Eagles

The Minisink Valley Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Onteora Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Minisink Valley will bounce into Monday's game after beating Washingtonville, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Minisink Valley walked away with a 52-42 win over Washingtonville on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Wizards: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Onteora came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 46 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Blazers 44-17. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 27 points or more this season.

Onteora's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 15.0 points over those games. As for Minisink Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.

Minisink Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Onteora in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 36-26. The rematch might be a little tougher for Minisink Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
