Softball Recap: Myrtle Point Gets the Win

Myrtle Point's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Waldport Irish with a sharp 24-14 victory. The Bobcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Bailie Detzler and Raylee Murray did most of the damage at the plate: Detzler went 4-for-5 with one home run, five stolen bases, and four runs, while Murray went 3-for-5 with one home run, four stolen bases, and four runs. Murray is crushing it when it comes to hits: she's got at least three every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Michaela Gorst, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

Myrtle Point always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .729. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Myrtle Point's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Waldport, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
